What Policy Should I Get?

When shopping for pet insurance, there is a universal desire to get the best policy — the lowest premiums and the most coverage. Because of this, I am often asked which policy is the best. But there is no simple answer to this question.

What determines what makes the best policy varies from person to person. There is no one size fits all policy. For example, Susie might have a kitten that is four months old that she wants comprehensive coverage for including wellness care, but Jack has a dog that fifteen years old and only wants catastrophic coverage. The policy that is best for Susie is completely different than the policy that Jack will choose.

Similarly, the best policy for you is not necessarily going to be the best policy for anyone else. In order to determine the best policy, you need to determine your needs and wants — which pets you want coverage for, how much coverage, how much you’re willing to pay, what type of coverage you want, and so much more. You need to compare which companies offer policies that might fit you and determine which one fits you the best.
