Enrollment Requirements

Dogs must be between 8 weeks and 13 years; cats must be between 8 weeks and 15 years. You must be a US resident. Pets previously diagnosed with chronic or terminal illnesses are only eligible for Level 1 coverage.

Multipet Policies

Each pet must have his or her own individual policy; however, a 10% discount is applied to each policy’s premium when you enroll 2 or more pets in the same level of coverage. Level 1 coverage and the Continuing Care rider are excluded from this discount.

Premium

Premiums may be paid monthly or annually; there is a monthly $10.50 annual issuance fee if you choose to pay monthly. Premiums depend greatly on what kind of coverage you choose and range from roughly $10 to $130 a month. They are also dependent on the size of your pet and where you live.

Policy Renewal

Policies are renewed annually, but coverage is not continuous. The waiting period is waived when there is no break in coverage from one year to the next, but any accident or illness your pet has been treated for will become pre-existing and will no longer be covered. See the other things to consider section for more information on this. Policy renewal is automatic; you must request a cancellation of your pet’s policy or you will automatically be billed.

Wellness Care

Yes, Level 3 covers an annual exam and vaccines, and Level 4 covers most aspects of wellness care.

Dental Care

Periodontal disease is not covered; however, dental extractions relating to accident or disease other than periodontal disease are covered. Level 4 covers annual dental cleanings.

Cancer

Yes, provided it is not a pre-existing or hereditary condition. However, without the Continuous Care rider, cancerous conditions will only be covered in the policy year it was first diagnosed.

Coverage for Pregnancy

Travel Coverage

Your pet will receive coverage in all 50 US states and Canada. If you travel outside of these areas, your pet will not be covered.

How Long Until Coverage Begins

Coverage for wellness care, accidents, and injuries begins the day your policy becomes effective. Illness coverage begins 30 days after your policy’ effective date, and there is a 12 month waiting period for cruciate injury.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions, congenital conditions, hereditary conditions, aberrant cilia, dermoid, distichiasis, Entropion/Ectropion etc., CDRM, chronic renal (kidney) failure, deciduous teeth(illness, disease, or trauma), diabetes (insipidus or mellitus), elbow dysplasia (OCD, FCP, UAP), hemophilia, congenital Heart problems including murmurs, failure, cardiomegaly (enlargement of the heart), etc., hip dysplasia, congenital liver conditions, obesity (not due to an underlying medical condition), OCD (including but not limited to the hock, elbow, carpus, and shoulder), osteoarthritis, congenital shunts (including portosystemic shunt), elongated soft palate, stenotic nares, spondylosis, Von Willebrand’s disease, luxating patella, and umbilical hernia. Because policies are issued from state to state, these exclusions may be different in your area. Please be certain to follow the #1 Rule and read the policy.

Any accident, illness, or condition that your pet has that has been cured and has not shown symptoms for 180 days, the condition will no longer be considered pre-existing and that particular condition will be covered again.
